Supporting Local – Decor and Accessories for Children in Edinburgh and Lothian

As a local business, it is important to support and praise the amazing local talent we have in our own cities and towns. Being based in Edinburgh and the Lothians, I want to promote some of the great shops we have that sell wonderful interior design accessories and decor that can be used for updating a child’s bedroom. Please support them.

Bobbin & Bear

From an interior designer who sources quality accessories and decor, I can’t recommend Bobbin & Bear more highly. Marianne’s attention to detail and use of quality materials means her creations will stand the test of time and will become a keepsake you will look upon with fondness in years to come.

As a mum of 2 young boys, Marianne likes to craft in her spare time mainly using Harris Tweed and Liberty print fabrics to make cushions, bunting and initial wall hangings.

She grew up on the Isle of Lewis on the edge of the Atlantic where her Dad weaves Harris Tweed like his father before him. She has seen first hand all the hard work that goes into making such a wonderful cloth, steeped in tradition and she can’t work with anything else, it’s in her blood.

As a child she used to help her Dad fill the bobbins (bobban’s as they pronounce it on Lewis) for pocket money, hence the name Bobbin & Bear. The Bear is her pet name for my children, Lucas Bear and Brodie Bear.
Harris Tweed and Liberty fabrics are both iconic textiles in their own right and so Marianne decided to pair them together. The hard wearing Harris Tweed against the soft Liberty Tana Lawn cotton is a perfect combination.

Bobbin & Bear is offering a 10% discount on services until 31st of May 2019.

Willow Boutique

When sourcing fabulous interior design decor for your child’s bedroom, you can’t go past Willow Boutique. Willow Boutique, based in the heart of Stockbridge, Edinburgh, was established in August 2016 by Nicole Forrest and Gayle Blair. Having worked together in retail for 10 years and becoming mums they both felt the time was right to set up a shop of their own. Their passion lies in beautiful things for children. From colourful, unique babywear to stunning nursery decor and a wide selection of wooden toys.

They know the importance of creating a loving, safe space for your little ones to play and sleep, so a balance between bright colours for daytime and soft lighting at night is key. Having a neutral colour such as grey on the walls allows for a myriad of bright colours to be used throughout. Our rainbow cushions and rugs from Sass and Belle are an ideal way to achieve this as well as adding comfort and style. Our rugs come in a variety of characters such as pears, cacti, ice creams and whales and are loved by both parents and kids alike.

Whether hanging over a cot or on the wall our star mobiles from Meri Meri add the perfect decorative piece for wee ones to look up at before nodding off.
Wall art is an important part of any childs bedroom and nothing brings more joy and positivity than our stunning sunshine ‘Bonjour’ print by Edinburgh based designer Kate and the Ink.

They are also expecting another delivery of our ever popular dinosaur string lights very soon but this time with the addition of beautiful, colourful pom pom lights.
However, no kids room can be complete without the fluffy loveliness of Jellycat soft toys which we also stock in abundance.

Visit Willow Boutique at 5 Raeburn Place, Edinburgh EH4 1HU or online via Facebook and Instagram.
