This Victorian home on Buckingham Terrace in Edinburgh was ready for a fresh chapter. The clients, busy parents with young children, wanted to transform their tired living room and bedroom into calm, inviting retreats. They needed spaces that balanced the elegance of their period property with the comfort and practicality of modern family life.
Renée Turner Interiors began by carefully rethinking the layout and flow of the living room. Bespoke carpentry was introduced to create beautiful, functional storage and display solutions, designed to work seamlessly with the room’s Victorian proportions. Rich paint tones, layered textures and considered lighting choices elevated the space, while preserving the property’s architectural charm.
In the bedroom, the focus was on creating a serene, restorative environment. Soft furnishings, carefully chosen colour palettes, and bespoke joinery brought comfort and order, helping the room feel both stylish and restful. Every detail — from furniture placement to fabrics — was designed to create a private haven where the clients could recharge.
The result is a home that feels both beautiful and practical, giving this young family two stylish, functional rooms that truly reflect their lifestyle. The living room now serves as a welcoming space for family time and entertaining, while the bedroom offers a peaceful retreat.
